The Meyer lemon is the most commonly grown lemon in New Zealand. It is a cross between a lemon and mandarin, so more sweeter than the Yen Ben.
It is a soft fruit with a high juice content.

Considered a 'true lemon' due to its more tangy taste and sharp citric bite.
Yen Ben have a thin, pale skin which is fantastic when used for zest. The fruit are quite firm so juicing can be hard work.

Here at Twisted Citrus we supply premium Hass avocados. They are the most common commercial vaiety in New Zealand, for good reason.
They have a lovely creamy texture and taste. They are green and hard when unripe, slowly turning a dark green/black colour and softening when they are ready to eat.
Avocados take between 7-14 days to ripen after picking depending on where they are being stored. Warmer temperatures increase ripening speed. Also near the end of the season avocados will ripen a lot faster.
The fastest way to ripen an avocado is inside a brown paper bag with a ripe banana in the hot water cupboard.
Once ripe you can leave them in the fridge for a few days if required.
Try some avocados that aren't poked and bruised by other shoppers at the supermarket, you wont believe what you've been missing out on!
