Blood oranges are one of those fruits that stop you in your tracks the first time you cut one open. Vivid crimson flesh, a flavour that's sweet and tangy with a distinctive hint of berry, and a season that's over almost as soon as it begins.

Please note: they are smaller in size than normal oranges.

Grown at Hill Road Orchard in Gisborne, our Moro blood oranges are the real thing - and this season they're beautifully red.

Details

The Moro is the most intensely coloured of all blood orange varieties - deep crimson flesh that bleeds into the juice and makes everything it touches look extraordinary.
The flavour follows suit: sweeter than a standard orange, with rich complexity and that characteristic berry note that makes blood oranges so distinctive.

They're wonderful eaten fresh, juiced into the most spectacular-coloured orange juice you've ever seen, or used in baking, salads and cocktails where that colour and flavour really earns its place.

Blood oranges are small to medium in size, this is normal for the variety and has no effect on the flavour or quality. The season is short, so if you want them, order sooner rather than later.

Storage

Keep your blood oranges in the fridge or a cool dark place. They'll hold in excellent condition for up to two weeks.

Overnight delivery to the North Island and Christchurch.
Two-day delivery to the rest of the South Island. Rural deliveries may take an extra day.

The Moro variety they grow here produces some of the most deeply coloured and flavourful blood oranges you'll find anywhere in the country.
