Pear & White Chocolate Crumble

Looking for a delicious way to use fresh seasonal pears? This easy Pear & White Chocolate Crumble recipe is a gorgeous spring dessert for entertaining - simple enough to prepare but impressive enough to serve at your next dinner party.

Ingredients

Pear base

5 pears

½ cup brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp flaky sea salt

80g butter

Crumble

140g butter, melted

½ cup brown sugar

1 cup plain or gluten-free flour

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup shredded coconut

1 cup slivered almonds

100g white chocolate

1 tsp cinnamon

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 170°C fan bake. Lightly grease a medium baking dish - a 9 x 9 inch square dish works well.
  • Peel, core and chop the pears into roughly even chunks. Add them to a medium saucepan with the brown sugar, cinnamon, flaky sea salt and butter.

  • Cook over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pears have softened slightly and are coated in a glossy, buttery syrup. Transfer to your prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

  • To make the crumble, combine the brown sugar, flour, rolled oats, coconut, slivered almonds and cinnamon in a large bowl. Pour over the melted butter and mix until everything is evenly coated and a chunky crumble has formed.

  • Roughly chop the white chocolate and gently fold it through the crumble mixture.

  • Scatter the crumble evenly over the pear base.

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crumble is golden and crisp and the pears are bubbling around the edges.

  • Allow to sit for 5–10 minutes before serving.

  • Spoon into bowls while still warm and serve with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream or custard. Finish with a drizzle of caramel sauce for something extra indulgent.

Warm, buttery and beautifully crunchy, this is one of those desserts that feels impressive without being complicated. Perfect for making the most of fresh seasonal pears.
