Sansa has a lovely story - it's the result of a collaboration between Japanese and New Zealand researchers, developed by crossing Gala and Akane apples and released in 1988 after nearly twenty years of careful cultivation.

The result is an early-season apple with vivid pink-red skin, creamy white flesh and a flavour that's bright and satisfying - the natural sweetness of a Gala balanced by a clean acidity that keeps things lively. Hints of grapefruit and cane sugar make it genuinely aromatic and complex for an early apple. Crisp and firm with a fine-grained texture,

Because it's an early-season apple, it doesn't store as long as later varieties - but that's part of what makes it special.

Storage

Sansa is best enjoyed directly from the fridge and eaten within 2-3 weeks for the best flavour and texture.

They'll hold well on the bench for several days if you prefer them at room temperature.

Overnight delivery to the North Island and Christchurch. Two-day delivery to the rest of the South Island.
