Makrut lime leaves are a key ingredient in many Thai and Southeast Asian dishes, valued for their powerful citrus aroma and distinctive flavour.

Also commonly known as kaffir lime leaves, they are widely used in curries, soups, stir-fries and sauces to add a fresh, fragrant lime flavour.

The leaves are usually added whole while cooking or finely sliced to release their aromatic oils.

Because of their strong flavour, only a small amount is needed to transform a dish.

Fresh makrut lime leaves also freeze extremely well, making them easy to keep on hand for cooking.

10 grams equals approximately 10–12 good-sized makrut lime leaves.

Store makrut lime leaves in the refrigerator to keep them fresh.

They also freeze extremely well and can be stored in the freezer for several months without losing their flavour.

Our Growers

These makrut lime leaves are grown on the Twisted Citrus orchard in Gisborne by Sandy and Bron Kemp.

The leaves are picked fresh from the trees and packed quickly so they arrive fragrant and ready to use in cooking.
