Our Hass avocados are known for their rich flavour and creamy texture - the variety most people consider the perfect avocado.

They’re picked while still firm and sent directly to you so they can ripen naturally at home, giving you better flavour and texture than avocados that have been handled or chilled during transport.

Because they haven’t been repeatedly squeezed or over-handled in store displays, they arrive in beautiful condition and ripen gradually over several days.

Storage & Ripening

Your avocados will usually arrive firm and ready to ripen.

Leave them on your kitchen bench or fruit bowl and they will soften naturally over the next few days.

How to check if they’re ready:

Gently press near the stem. If it gives slightly, the avocado is ready to eat.

Speed up ripening

Place avocados in a paper bag with a banana or apple to help them ripen faster.

Slow ripening

Once ripe, store avocados in the fridge to keep them perfect for another two or three days.

Cut avocados

If you only use half, leave the stone in and store it in an airtight container in the fridge. A little lemon or lime juice on the cut surface can help prevent browning.

These Hass avocados are grown in Gisborne by Chris Frazer, a local grower known for producing beautifully sized fruit with excellent flavour.

Gisborne’s warm climate and sunshine create ideal conditions for avocados, allowing them to develop their rich, creamy texture and full flavour.

The fruit is picked fresh during the season and carefully packed so it arrives in great condition and ripens naturally at your place.
